Drug counselling
at Crew
We offer
one to one drug counselling to people experiencing problems with
their psycho-stimulant drug use. They
can be currently using or wanting help in keeping straight. Drug
counselling can help the person explore, set goals and evaluate
what they want from life and to see how drugs fit into the equation.
The service-user is in the driving seat when working out if they
want to reduce, stabilise or stop altogether.
The service
is geared towards the client’s need in the sense that we offer
day time or early evening appointments and they can have more than
one appointment a week. It may be a one off session, a short-term
intervention (3-6 sessions) or relatively longer intervention (up
to 20 sessions).
We are Person-Centred
in the sense that we believe that all people are capable of change
when it is voluntary and they are given the right support. The drug
counselling is based on Egan’s Three Stage Helping Model.
This model gives structure to finding out
where
the service-user is now,
where
they want to go and
It is
widely recognised model and we have found that it gives the people
we work with the tools they need to make positive changes in their
life.
The practitioners
working for crew are all trained and experienced in working with
this particular user group. They receive external supervision
and up to date training.
Crew has a BACP organisational membership, which is a way of keeping
the service safe and professional.
If you
have any questions about the drug counselling or other aspects
of the service, please feel free to contact us.
